Working Remotely

“Working remotely” hits different when the project is above the Arctic Circle.

CKA is teaming up with GHD‘s Anchorage office for a second time at Samuel Simmonds Memorial Hospital, continuing a long-standing collaboration. Our first project there was an MRI suite; this time, we’re consulting on the new surgery department in Utqiagvik (formerly Barrow), Alaska, the northernmost city in the US.

We’re helping GHD plan two new ORs and recovery spaces to expand healthcare services for North Slope communities. The client, Arctic Slope Native Association, is a tribal non-profit serving the Iñupiat people of the region.

Scott Combs just returned from his first trip to Utqiagvik. He reports it’s a remarkable, remote place, and seeing ASNA’s work firsthand made the project’s impact even clearer.

Thanks to GHD for including CKA on the team!
